EUROPEAN MASTER'S DEGREE IN HUMAN RIGHTS & DEMOCRATISATION (E.MA)
E.MA is a unique intensive one-year advanced Master programme, in the course of which 90 students gain an opportunity to study human rights in theory and practice through studies in Venice and at 39 universities representing all member states of the European Union. Field missions also form part of the curriculum. E.MA features multidisciplinary teaching that reflects the indivisible links between human rights, democracy, peace and development. The programme offers a possibility of approaching human rights, democratic processes and international relations from the viewpoint of law, political science, anthropology and philosophy.
During the first semester in Venice, Italy, students stay in multicultural environment and participate in courses conducted by eminent scholars, practitioners and high-level officers of international organisations such as United Nations, OSCE, Council of Europe and the European Union.
Upon completion of the first part of the programme, students move to a selected E.MA Participating University, where in the course of the second semester of the programme they conduct specialist research on chosen topics and prepare their MA Theses.
Students that successfully complete the programme are awarded with an exceptional European Master Degree conferred jointly by 6 universities.
The best 15 graduates are offered an internship in the institutions of the European Union, Council of Europe, OSCE and in international non-governmental organisations.. Students can also participate in a prestigious advanced internship at the office of the European Union delegation to United Nations in Geneva or New York.
E.MA program is organized by EIUC and coordinated at the national level by the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań in co-operation with Poznań Human Rights Centre. The function of the E.MA national director is held by prof. dr hab. Zdzisław Kędzia.
