On 16 May 2013, a Workshop of experts to evaluate and provide input from the Eastern European countries, as well as a global perspective, on the draft United Nations Declaration on the Right to Peace, will take place in Oświecim (Poland). The Workshop will be co-hosted by the Cities of Plonsk, Oswiecim and Wielun and co-organized by the Poznan Human Rights Centre (Institute of Legal Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences), the Spanish Society for International Human Rights Law (SSIHRL), the International Observatory of the Human Right to Peace (IOHRP) and the University Abat Oliba (Barcelona) with the support of the International Association of Peace Messenger Cities (IAPMC) and the World Council of Churches (WCC).
Additionally, on 15 May 2013, the City Council of Oswiecim will arrange a visit to the concentration camp of Auschwitz II?Birkenau, in which all participants at the Workshop will pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust.
